RANGERS manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been dealt a fresh blow after a key player had to be hauled off against Hibs this afternoon.

Tom Lawrence was forced off the pitch midway through the second period.

Tom Lawrence scored what he thought was the winner for Rangers

Rangers played out a dramatic 2-2 draw at Easter Road this afternoon as Josh Campbell fired in a late equaliser to rescue a point for Lee Johnson.

Tom Lawrence thought he’d scored a winner in the second half with a bullet header, but Willie Collum was again the centre of attention in the match.

The game was filled with drama as both John Lundstram and Alfredo Morelos were sent off.

Then the man of the moment Josh Campbell blasted in an effort from 20 yards in the dying embers of the game against a nine-man Rangers to seal the point for the Hibees.

However the pain doesn’t end there for van Bronckhorst’s men as one of his key players also had to be hauled off in the second half.

English playmaker Tom Lawrence now looks to be a doubt for Rangers’ crucial tie against PSV on Wednesday.

When asked after the game about the injury by Sky Sports, he said: “He was caught in a bad tackle and twisted his ankle a little bit so we just took him off.

“We’ll have to see if he is fit for Wednesday.”

He was also questioned about the referee’s decision to send off his midfielder John Lundstram after the game.

He continued: “I think it was harsh for John Lundstram to get a red card, I think it was a foul and a yellow card but he didn’t have any intention to hit him hard.

“I was surprised he was given a red card so we’ll need to have a look at that one.

“The second red card I haven’t seen it back.

“We’ll have to get a proper look at it to see what has actually gone on.

“But we’ve finished the game with nine men and that made it very difficult for us.”

“It was a very physical game.

“Of course after the two red cards we were fighting to get the win and it was always going to be difficult.

“It cost us a lot of energy to defend like that until the end but in the end we came up just short.

“It was an emotional game – in the first half I saw some tackles with a lot of passion in them and the ref decides the decision if it’s a yellow or a red.

“I wasn’t sure of the rules!

“I think it’s different as to when it’s a clear goal scoring chance as to when it’s not and that’s what I was asking the linesman.

“Once they decided it wasn’t a clear goals coring chance and a yellow card for me it was over.”
